Water Filters For Pure Water

The fact that our bodies are made up primarily of water makes it one of the most important elements that are essential to our well being. It is a biological fact that water constitutes over three quarters of the body’s weight.

  • Water is the most important of all nutrients. We can survive a deficiency of nutrients for months, but we can last without water for only few days.

  • Water is so to speak, the major element that keeps our systems functioning. It is the element that carries nutrients to each cell, and carries away unwanted toxic waste mater from the cells. It is for this reason that water is the most important cleansing element of the body. Water cleanses the body by bathing the tissues and purifying the intestines.

  • Water is the element that keeps our body temperature at a steady 98.6F, serving much as does water in the radiator of an automobile. Our bodies expel about one gallon of water every single day, It is therefore vital to replace it with water and fluids that are beneficial to our bodies, and not with some poor imitation like soda or other chemical laden soft drinks.

  • Water is crucial for digestion, metabolism, and respiration. A deficiency in any of these areas results in disease.

It is due to all of the above reasons that pure filtered water plays such a vital role in proper health, by helping to remove toxic residue from all the various body organs. Therefore, keep in mind that you’re primary fluid intake should come from pure chlorine free water.

The Healing Power of WaterTo learn more about the role that water plays in maintaining proper health read: The Healing Power of Water: an exclusive interview with Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj: Author of the best-selling book on the topic titled: Your Body’s Many Cries For Water.

Why The Necessity Of A Water Filter?

Filtering your water has become a vital necessity. This is due to the fact that the safety of our water supply has come under increasing scrutiny in the last few years. There is much concern over toxins such as Arsenic, Lead, and Mercury that are seeping into our water supply.

It is no secret that billions of gallons of toxic waste; the by products of big industry, and pesticides used by the farming industry, are dumped into our streams and rivers each year. The level of mercury in some rivers has reached such high levels, that women who are pregnant have been advised by the FDA not to consume certain categories of fish caught in these rivers, due to the high levels of mercury contamination.

The causes of tap water contamination are many, ranging from agricultural runoff to improper use of household chemicals and everything in between. Few of us realize the extent or impact of these low level synthetic chemicals in the water we use. While the standard use in our society of over 80,000 different synthetic chemicals has led to added convenience and productivity in our lives, these come at a tremendous price… drastic increases in degenerative disease.

In the early 1900s, before the prevalence of chlorine, pesticides, herbicides and the tens of thousands of other chemicals that we are exposed to every day, the average American had a 1 in 50 chance of getting cancer, today one out of three people can expect to get cancer in their lifetime, one out of two males.

The quality of the water we drink is equally as important as the amount. If water already contains chlorine and other chemicals, it has less ability to carry toxins out of the body. If we consume water that contains traces of synthetic chemicals, then we force our liver and kidneys to be the filter, ultimately damaging or destroying two of our vital organs. With an abundant intake of clean, healthy water we allow the body to perform all the healing processes that it is naturally capable of.

Our use of man-made chemicals has become so extreme that we can now find traces of these low level SOCs (synthetic organic chemicals) in virtually every public water supply around the world. A recent report by the Ralph Nader Study Group, after a review of over 10,000 documents acquired through the Freedom of Information Act, confirmed that "U.S. drinking water contains more than 2,100 toxic chemicals that can cause cancer."

Dangers Of Chlorine

Chlorine and fluoride are added to the water supply of most urban cities, even though it is now a well known fact that these compounds are potent carcinogens.

This is one of the major health risks that should concern us today, if we assume that an average person drinks five or more glasses of water daily.

Several studies have linked chlorine and chlorinated by-products, to a greater incidence of bladder, breast and bowel cancer, as well as malignant melanoma.

DRINKING CHLORINATED WATER IS EXTREMELY HARMFUL BECAUSE CHLORINE DESTROYS MUCH OF THE INTESTINAL FLORA, THE FRIENDLY BACTERIA THAT HELP IN THE DIGESTION OF FOOD, AND WHICH PROTECT THE BODY FROM HARMFUL PATHOGENS. These bacteria are also responsible for the manufacture of several important vitamins like vitamin B12 and vitamin K.

Many people who suffer from chronic digestive disorders, as well as chronic skin conditions like acne; psoriasis and eczema have experienced SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT in their conditions when switching to pure unchlorinated drinking water.

Recently, a major study was undertaken by various big industries located in Long Island, New York, to settle once and for all the ongoing suspicions that have prevailed there for some time, that the high rates of breast cancer on Long Island, New York are due to the many toxins that are dumped there by these very same industries.

The results of the study were not unexpected for the obvious reason that the study was done by the very same ones who are responsible for the problem in the first place!

Bottled Water Versus Filtered Water

It is due to all of the above that sales of bottled water have skyrocketed in the last few years.

Numerous different kinds of bottled water are currently available. They basically fall into four main categories:

  • Spring water: This water must come from a natural spring.

  • Purified water: This is regular tap water that has been purified.

  • Distilled water: This is water that has been steam distilled, and all of the chemical properties of the water have been effectively removed. It is the purest water available, ideal for healing, but not for long-term use because it can demineralize the body.

  • Mineral water comes from natural springs with varying mineral content, and widely varying taste. The naturally occurring minerals are beneficial to digestion and regularity.

Bottled water has become a multi-billion dollar business. It is now the fastest growing segment of the entire beverage industry, and the most profitable of all beverages.

Millions and millions of dollars are spent each week on advertising campaigns to give consumers the perception that bottled water comes from some pristine mountain spring or magical underground aquifer. The truth is, that bottled water is often little more than tap water in a bottle.

The Federal regulations that govern bottled water only apply if it is transported across state lines, and then only require it to be "as good as" tap water. Most bottled water is bottled and sold within the same state to avoid regulations. Thus, there are no assurances or requirements that bottled water is of any higher quality than tap water.

The Natural Resources Defense Council confirmed the above-mentioned facts in March of 1999. The (NRDC), in a report called "Bottled Water‚ Pure Drink or Pure Hype?" Points out that as much as 40% of all bottled water comes from a city water system just like tap water. The report also focuses on the fact that 60 to 70% of all bottled water is exempt from FDA‘s bottled water standards‚ because it is bottled and sold within the same state. Unless the water is transported across state lines‚ there are no federal regulations that govern its quality. According to the NRDC‚ "bottled water companies have used this loophole to avoid complying with basic health standards‚ such as those that apply to municipally treated tap water." Also‚ all carbonated or sparkling waters are completely exempt from FDA guidelines that set specific contamination limits.

The Natural Resources Defense Council report concluded that; "Therefore‚ while much tap water is indeed risky‚ having compared available data‚ we conclude that there is no assurance that bottled water is any safer than tap water." Bottlers, some of which simply repackage tap water, do not typically treat or test for pharmaceuticals or other contaminants.

The reality of bottled water is, that people pay from $1 to $4 a gallon for the perception of higher quality‚ when in fact‚ the quality of bottled water is at best "unknown"!

A recent study sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund came to the same conclusions as the study sponsored by the NRDC. Their study found that there is essentially not much of a difference between tap water and bottled water. Click here to read the full report.

Water FiltersWater Filter System

Due to the above-mentioned information, it is quite obvious that using a top of the line water filter is the best way to be assured that you are drinking pure toxin free water. This is in addition to the economic factor as mentioned previously, that an average gallon of bottled water costs approximately $1.00, and a gallon of home filtered water costs only about 9 cents.

Water filters are a logical alternative to bottled water. A single water filter enhancement system can prevent thousands of plastic containers from winding up in landfills and further polluting the environment.

I would highly recommend the water filters produced by a company called Aquasana. They are a company who are totally dedicated to producing the most superior, highest quality water filtration products.

Tip: It is important to be careful about maintaining your water filter. Typically, specific instructions are included with the purchase of the product. Without proper maintenance, it’s possible bacteria or other contaminants can build up in the product.
