The Benefits of Detoxification for Psoriasis

The importance of releasing and eliminating the accumulated toxins from the body, and maintaining proper elimination, is probably one of the most, if not the most important aspect of any psoriasis cure.

If your body is not eliminating waste matter properly, the waste matter will stick around your body, and no matter how many salves you put on your skin, or how many vitamins and herbs you ingest, your psoriasis is not going to go anywhere!. It will just keep on pestering you!

Detoxify your colon

A sluggish colon can actually retain pounds of old toxic and poisonous fecal matter. Modern dietary habits have caused that the colon and digestive tract of nearly every adult is burdened with a lifetime of accumulation of toxic waste materials.

Keep in mind that, the colon is the focal point of your food processing system. IT MUST BE running smoothly for you to function at your best.

The best way to get rid of the waste matter that has accumulated in the bowels, and to get your elimination system to start working properly, is to increase your intake of natural fiber through consuming more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. This will have a “broom effect” and sweep the walls of the colon, removing layers of encrusted and hardened feces.

Detoxify your liver

We are constantly exposed to potentially dangerous toxins through the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we drink. An optimally functioning detoxification system is necessary for providing good health and preventing disease. Many diseases, including psoriasis and other chronic age-related conditions are linked to a weakened detoxification system. It can also contribute to allergic disorders, asthma, hives, psoriasis, and eczema and is associated with CFS, FMS, depression, and systemic Candida infection.

The liver must function well to be able to eliminate all of the toxins we are taking in from our environment. These include toxins such as hormones and antibiotics in meats and preservatives, and pesticides in fruits and vegetables.

Psoriasis has been linked to the presence of several microbial byproducts in the blood. These signs point to an abnormal function of the liver.

Therefore, the key to cleaning your system of toxins is to allow your liver to do its job properly. How is this done you will ask? The answer is, simply by consuming foods that are loaded with vital nutrients and life giving properties.

Our organs that are designed to, and are capable of cleaning out unwanted substances, are now completely overloaded by the barrage of chemicals found in the modern diet, thus many unwanted substances stay in our tissues.

Therefore, over time, a variety of undesirable things: fats, mucus, old fecal matter, mineral deposits, toxic chemicals, and more – can accumulate in various organs and tissues of the body, severely affecting the operation

Many times switching to a more healthy diet in by itself will not necessarily dislodge theses toxins. This elimination is vital to controlling psoriasis, since the body can absorb the necessary nutrients only if the cells are ready to receive them, meaning, that the cells are clean. In addition, the accumulated toxins serve as the fuel for various psoriasis triggers. When the body is under stress it releases those chemicals from the fat to circulate in the bloodstream and the result is inflammation.

A herb well-known for its liver detoxification properties is Milk Thistle.

Milk Thistle also known as silymarin, is an herb that has been proven to have very potent liver cleansing properties. Milk thistle also regenerates injured liver cells. It is especially helpful for psoriasis, being that an overtaxed liver causes psoriasis.

Milk Thistle Extract For Psoriasis TreatmentMilk thistle can be taken in the amount of 420 mg of silymarin per day from capsules, tablets, or an herbal extract of milk thistle extract standardized to 70-80% silymarin content. According to research and clinical experience, improvement should be noted in about eight weeks. Once that occurs, intake is often reduced to 280 mg of silymarin per day. This lower amount may also be used for preventive purposes. For those who prefer, 12-15 grams of milk thistle seeds can be ground and eaten or made into a tea.

A note of caution;  Although no toxicity has been reported with taking to much milk thistle, as milk thistle is a food, and a relative of artichoke, since the herb does increase the bile flow, thereby stimulating the digestive system, some people might experience a mild laxative effect. If this happens, some dietary fiber should be taken to ease the discomfort.

    Psoriasis Treatment…

Why is it that when I have something really important going on in my life, my psoriasis flares up?…

The simple answer to your question is STRESS!
Recent medical studies have confirmed that stress plays a major role in increasing the severity of many diseases.
Psoriasis like most other diseases is worsened by stress. Stress increases the toxins in your body, thus resulting in negative effects on your health and skin. You should try these suggestions for alleviating stress levels: meditation, yoga and sleeping well. Getting rid of stress helps to rebalance your system to a healthier and stronger state.
Stress, unexpressed anger, and emotional disorders, including depression and anxiety, are strongly associated with psoriasis flare-ups. In one study, nearly 40% of patients remembered a specific stressful event that occurred within a month of a psoriasis flare.
A 2001 study suggested, that stress could trigger specific immune factors associated with psoriasis flares. Some evidence indicated that people with psoriasis might respond to stress differently from those without the skin disease. In one study, psoriasis patients had fewer aggressive verbal responses than others did when confronted with hostile situations.
Keep in mind that when your body is stressed out it cannot and will not function properly.

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I
come across a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and without a doubt,
you have hit the nail on the head. The problem is something
that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I’m very happy
that I stumbled across this during my hunt for something regarding this.
